How to Cook the Best Deep Fried Turkey

How to cook the perfect turkey is actually pretty easy but my preference is a well cooked or should I say a well deep-fried turkey. If you want to know how to cook a deep-fried turkey follow the suggestions in your turkey will turn out perfect for your Thanksgiving or Christmas meal. Of course what you wanted to first is to purchase a plump and juicy turkey that is farm raised or grass fed. In my opinion these are some of the best tasting turkeys available but they can be smaller in size so you may have to look around a little bit to find one that’s plump. The reason for the smaller size than the average turkey that you buy in the grocery store is that these turkeys typically are not fed grain just to make them fatter.

So now that you have your big fat turkey what you want to do is find a good turkey fryer. If you have a cooking pot that is big and deep he could probably use that for frying a turkey. What we do is pour in approximately 3 or four bottles of cooking oil into the pot and get it nice and hot. Once a cooking oil is nice and hot and you can lower in your turkey that you prepared. Be very careful here because as you lower the turkey in the oil will splatter and possibly boil over. So this is not something that you want the kids standing around to watch unless they are standing back in the distance.

To prepare your turkey for the deep fryer, make sure you salt and pepper and add any of the spices that you would like for your turkey ahead of time before you stick it in the fryer. My preference is salt-and-pepper garlic oregano and I also like to add just a little bit of spice to it may be some red chili powder or Cajun seasoning. You may want to just have a little bit at first because the chili powder and Cajun seasoning can be a little overwhelming for most.

So you prepared your turkey and lowered it into the big pot of hot cooking oil, it will take approximately 30 minutes for the turkey to cook. You will know when the turkey is done because it will be a golden brown color. It’s making my mouth water just thinking about how crisp the skin of the turkey is and how soft the white meat of the turkey is. You will not have a try to turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas this year and probably not for many years to come. I hope you enjoy this turkey cooking recipe and you find it helpful for you and your family.
